Hello all.
I am new to all this, and losing hope that DLA will be open to me.I have had RA 6 months......not yet 3 months on Methatroxate.....and have gradually worsoned....to the extent ,my friend saidI should have a go.On bad days,I feel it is totally a good idea, but reading all your comments.....should I ??
This is all a Rhuemy nurse wrote, having told me that the Consultant would write something>I only met her that day.
I have decided to get help filling the DLA form in,fromDIAL....a national charity.
Should I also ask my Doctor.....who slightly passed the buck ,and told me she would help, only if the Rheumy folk wouldn't.
It all seems a bit unhelpful all round!

I value your honesty, and would rather leave it.if it is virtually impossible!I feel I do fit the bill most of the time in all honesty.I will not list it all here...
Many thanks,

Hi Phillipa,

Sorry to hear you have RA with things getting worse for you at the moment,
Sounds very good idea to get advice with benefits from DIAL
I'm sure their help will be very useful with form filling,
then I s'pose it's wait to see about entitlements but with ME and RA i think you should give it a go ~ do let us know how you get along,

Take care ~ love from Liz x

Hi Philippa,

Welcome to the forum!
I agree with Liz, give it a go with the DLA, there is a good chance you'll get it.

Thank you both for replying!
I do appreciate your encouragement.
One point though............would you try a Doctors letter to add to the form?ie same questions as Rheumy nurse?
Thanks,
Philippa

Hi Phillipa,

Welcome to the forum, but sorry you`ve got a "double whammy," in RA and ME.

I would give the DLA application a go - nothing ventured nothing gained. Any additional info that you could provide would be a help, eg GP; Occ Therapist, etc.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Hi Philippa, I agree, go for it. With help filling in the forms and providing all the info from rheumy GP maybe physio? anyone really who can provide information on your condition and how it affects you. You have as much chance as everyone else. Its also worth remembering that most get turned down initially, and then can get it on appeal. Good luck

Hi phillipa

Welcome to the forum sorry you have two nasty conditions!! you should apply and remember to write about your worst days and include any letters etc, just keep telling them how difficult it is you will find that you repeat yourself alot on the forms, it took me a while to fill these out as you have to relive the hardest times and also alot of writing which is not easy when you have sore/painfull fingers/hands.

good luck let us know how it goes
